Vineyards

MORE THAN 120 YEARS OF HISTORY Vineyards

Bodega Norton has five vineyards spread over the main terroirs of the province of Mendoza, foothills of the Andes Mountains, all of them within a privileged zone known as the First Zone for the quality of its grapes. It is not just geographical location that influences the quality of our wines, but the age of our vines. Their average age is around 30 years, but we also have a large number of hectares planted with more than 80-year-old.

Medrano

Our vineyards Medrano

Located across from the undulating hills of Lunlunta, in the town of Junin, this is Bodega Norton´s most remote vineyard, with the lowest elevation. It consists of 70 hectares, planted 700m above sea level. The soil is sandy lime, with a good depth. Good white grapes such as Chardonnay and Chenin are produced here, along with some selected reds, such as Bonarda.

Discover Lunlunta

An old plantation of 100% Malbec, this vineyard dates from the 1920s. Of its 20 hectares, 18 are located up to 850m above sea level. Some of the best grapes from Norton come from this vineyard to produce some of our high-end wines. The soil is typical of the area: a mosaic alluvial with boulders, sand and silt.

Our vineyards Agrelo

Located near the winery, Agrelo consists of 30 hectares 950m above sea level and is planted with some of the regions oldest vines – some are more than 93 years old. These vines produce highly concentrated grapes which are carefully cultivated by our enologists to produce our high-end LOTE wines. The highlights of this area are the red varieties, especially Malbec and the dominant feature is alluvial soil, with a relatively deep layer of sand on a bed of stones.

Discover Perdriel

This is the original Norton property, where the winery is located. With a hundred years of continuous cultivation, it consists of 100 hectares, almost entirely planted 950m above sea level, with vines aged between 30 and 50 years old. The terroir offers a combination of poor soils and cold air coming from the mountain, which produces aromatic and concentrated white and red grapes, perfect for making powerful and elegant high-end wines. It excels in the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec varieties.

Our vineyards La Colonia

Perched at 1,100m above sea level, this vineyard in the region of Luján de Cuyo is unusual due to its sheer size: 1,045 cultivable hectares, of which 450 are planted with all the varieties of grape that are produced in the winery and have an average age of 17 years old. The soil is mostly alluvial with a preponderance of sand and stones.
